Fire Station Field Trip

For my church's Moms Need Moms group, I've begun organizing one or two field trips a month after many of the moms requested some social types of events outside of our monthly meetings. The field trips are much like the ones we go on with our community parents group (NHPP), but with different kids and moms. Our last field trip was such a great one--it was a visit to the Northfield Fire Department! Not that long ago we visited the Macedonia Fire Dept. with NHPP, but unfortunately the firemen were all out on a call when we got there (boohoo!). Of course the firemen can't control when they'll be needed somewhere in the community, but we were certainly excited when the Northfield firement were not needed on a call (until halfway through the trip when two of them were called out!). The kids enjoyed watching one fireman dress up in all of his gear, getting to wear their own fire hats that the men gave to them, seeing the firemens' living quarters and of course, getting to sit on the ambulance and fire trucks. Enjoy some photos from our exciting excursion!

The fireman dressed in all of his gear--which they are required to be able to get into in 90 seconds! Impressive!! It was so good for the kids to see him dressed up because if they were ever in a fire, now they know not to be afraid of the men in funny masks and suits!

The gear lockers--so organized :)

Sienna 'driving' the fire truck!

Jaden taking a turn behind the wheel.

Jaden, Piper (my "baby by day") and Sienna sitting on the front of a fire truck. The firemen so graciously allowed them all to climb around the equipment and the kids thought it was like a special playground or something!
A big, huge THANK YOU goes out to the Northfield firemen for our special tour. Both the moms and children alike really loved seeing all of your gear and your trucks. Thank you for serving our community!
