Christmas Eve
First and foremost, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you! I can't believe Christmas ended almost 48 hours ago. It was such a whirlwind day and the two days since have been pretty busy and hectic too.
I'm going to catch up on Christmas posts over the next few days sharing some of our annual traditions, family holiday outings, how we decorated for our first Christmas in this new home and more. We'll start tonight with Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve, Scott and his brother Ryan (who came into town, along with his wonderful girlfriend Jenna, on the 23rd) spent a good part of the morning at the grocery store shopping for all of the ingredients to make a yummy Christmas brunch. While they were out, Jenna and I made 5 dozen muffins and chocolate cakes for Christmas. Then we had lunch and before long it was time to get everyone showered and ready for church.
Scott and I took Jaden and Sienna to church at 4pm while Bristol napped and Ryan and Jenna got ready for our Christmas Eve festivities. It was a lovely service highlighting the meaning of JOY (Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last).
We stopped back at home to get Bristol, Ryan and Jenna and we took a quick family photo in our holiday outfits:
Then, we scurried out the door to head to cousin Sean's house for the annual Zetts family Christmas Eve party. This is Scott's mom's family who hosts the party and it's always nice to see the out-of-town cousins and for the kids to play together. As soon as we walked in, Aunt Nancie, who is so dear to me, grabbed Baby B for some snuggles:
This year, 3 of the 6 Zetts cousins had new babies, and all 3 were girls! Here are Scott with Bristol, Sean with Danielle and Corey with Ivy. You may recall Bristol's blog post to her cousin Ivy from a few weeks back :)
Here's a fun fact while we're on the topic of Zetts descendents...in the youngest generation of the Andrew Zetts family there are 7 children and ALL 7 are little GIRLS! Will there ever be a boy?? Who will have a boy first? We shall see....{no that's not some kind of silly hint about me; promise!}
After a delicious dinner we exchanged gifts. Scott's aunt and uncle are both so generous to us and our children. The cousins Scott's age don't exchange gifts, but we do exchange among the little kids. Jaden and Sienna were thrilled both with the fun things they received, and also with Bristol opening her first gift of the season.
After exchanging gifts, we put all of the little girls on the couch for a photo. It was quite comical trying to get all of these sweeties to look in the direction of the camera!
The final photo we took was of Scott and I with his brother and Jenna. Then they headed home with us to make the final preparations for Santa to deliver goodies!
It was a lovely Christmas Eve in every way and we were excited for more family fun to come the next day!
