Sienna at 2

What Sienna is doing at 2:

• Your favorite songs are “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “The Wheels on the Bus” which you know all of the words and motions to!

• Your vocabulary is expanding so rapidly these days that I often have to take a few moments to decipher which new words you are saying.

• You can count to 13 on your own, all the way to 20 with a tad bit of help.

• You mix up what “off” and “on” mean. You love to switch your bedroom light off and on, but often tell me you’re turning the light off when you really mean you’re turning it on.

• You still sleep with your bunny which you’ve slept with since you were a few months old and you carry it around the house some. You also recently adopted Jaden’s old bunny which you carry as well.

• You can name many of your body parts such as eyes, nose, mouth, ears, head, arm, tummy, knees, toes, feet, belly button, etc. You love to do the motions to “Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes.”

• You follow your big sister’s lead all the time and try to do things I tell her to do. You have picked up on me recently telling Jaden to put her shoes in her shoe basket and hang her coat up each time we come home from being out and about, so now you do the same!

• You talk in complete sentences almost exclusively, and your most used phrases include, “Where are we going now?” " I no want to" and “I don’t know.”

• You can sing the entire alphabet perfectly.

• You are interested in going potty some. You peed on the potty for the first time on 10/10/09 and you gave a great attempt to (unsuccessfully) go poop on the potty for the first time on 10/27/09. You love to play with your little potty, wear underwear, and flush the big potty. Soon we’ll go full force on the potty training!

• Your favorite toys are DOLLS! You dress them (with mommy’s help), love on them, snuggle them, put blankets on them, walk them around in Jaden’s doll stroller, put them in your little baby front pack to carry them and put them to sleep in the doll beds. You are a lil mama!

• You are working on learning your colors. You know purple and green very well, pink and blue sometimes, and we are working on the rest of the rainbow. We recently had “orange day” where we worked a lot on learning the color orange and even ate an all-orange lunch, but you still call orange things by the wrong color. Oh well! You’ll pick it up soon!

• You still sleep in your crib right now, although I think at any time you could be ready for a toddler bed.

• You still fall asleep to the same music box tunes that you’ve listened to in your bed since birth (the music of a fisher price birdie toy).

• In Walgreens recently the male cashier asked what your name was to which you replied, “Jaden” and then he asked how old you are to which you answered, “Four!” Hmmm, trying to steal sister’s identity or what? Haha!

• You love the Disney Princesses, I think mostly because you admire your big sister's obsession with them. You carry around figurines of each of the Disney Princesses, sing along to the Disney songs we have on CD in the car, play with the Princess barbie dolls and have a special place in your heart for Belle from Beauty and the Beast!

• Your size 2T clothes are a little big, but the 18-24 months clothes are getting snug.

• You look absolutely adorable in piggy tails. I LOVE to do your hair in them!

• Speaking of hair, you compete with Jaden for who is going to get their hair brushed and styled first each morning. The irony in this is that most little girls don't want to get their hair done or to wear bows, but you pick out a bow, clip or headband every morning and recently were very upset by my not putting a bow in your hair before we left the house!

• You put on your own shoes, almost 100% of the time they're on the wrong feet until we tell you so.

• You LOVE to be sung to and rocked before bed. You make song requests and point to the rocking chair. I don't always sit down to rock you, but I never put you to bed without first singing to you. And when I do rock you, it's the best snuggle time in the world!

• You can't wait to go to school at Jaden's school. You get excited every time we pull into the school driveway and love when we walk in to pick up Jaden on the days when she stays late for lunch bunch.

• You love to accessorize--hats, necklaces and bracelets are just a few of the things you put on to enhance your look each day :) You also love to play dress up with your big sister. I couldn't have asked for more "girly" girls!

• You recently started insisting on climbing into your own carseat. We open your door and you climb on in. Your effort makes you grunt a little which is the cutest sound ever!

• You want everything your big sister has, and want to do everything that she does. I love to see you looking up to her!

• You love to watch Dora and Sesame Street. You request "Mo-mo" {Elmo} the most these days and usually choose Sesame Street for your "one show of the day" on days when we have time for TV.

• You amazed me one day about a month ago by putting together one of our toddler puzzles without much help from me. You've been putting together all of our puzzles often now.

• You know exactly how to irritate your big sister when you want to...and when you're not following her around and copying what she's doing, you're often taking a toy from her and running away or blowing raspberries in her face. I have to hide my chuckles and tell you that you aren't being very nice, but I secretly kinda like that little ornery side of you!

• When you are being naughty and a warning doesn't help you to correct your behavior, we discipline you with a timeout in your crib {with bedroom lights turned on and all animals / blankets out of the bed to differentiate time out from bed time--as if our tone doesn't tell enough what is going on!}. This was suggested by your pediatrician and is working very well!

• We still take you to The Little Gym for weekly parent-child gymnastics. This semester your favorite apparatus is the bars and surprisingly you've become a bit apprehensive about your former favorite, the rings.

• You'd rather play with toys and look at books any time than watch TV. Even when you do pick a show to watch, you're often playing and watching simultaneously. You're a busy body--gee, wonder who you get that from?!?

• You are great at cleaning up. This past week at Grammy Pammy's house you even told me we needed to clean up before going to nap. So either you really wanted to clean up that time, or you were avoiding nap. Hmmm... :)

• You eat almost anything we put in front of you. Your favorite food is "ticken" (chicken) and anytime we drive past any type of fast food place, whether you're really hungry or not you mention "ticken." Other foods you are always eating include salami, peas, mixed veggies, pasta and broccali with lemon. You also drink tons of rice milk, soy milk and juice boxes!

...I could go on and on about lil you! You are an amazing daugther and you bring so much joy to my life. Your smile lights up my day everyday and your little personality makes me laugh quite a lot. There is nothing terrible about your journey through being two so far {and let's hope that doesn't change!}. I so much love being your Mommy!
