Remembering Grandpa Vitt

Steven Vitt was known for many things during his 94 years here on earth. I'll most remember meeting him for the first time on Father's day 2003 during a lunch get-together at Point Retreat, his love for golf, how funny he thought it was when Jaden dug into her first birthday cake (she really went wild and he LOVED it!), spending Christmas with him and all of his children two years ago, him being at our wedding and our renewal / reception, sharing apple pie with him at his home while catching up when he and Grandma Vitt first moved back from Florida, and him showing us around the first assisted living place he was in (he gave us a little tour and was so cute about it!).

His son, my father-in-law, said the most touching and true statement at Grandpa Vitt's memorial service last week. He mentioned how everyone will remember Grandpa Vitt's big hands--and truly, they were huge; they enveloped mine completely when shaking his hand. Then he said, "if you remember how big his hands were, his heart was bigger"

I may have only known Steven Vitt a short time during his long life, but I knew him long enough to know that he was an incredible man!
