Showtime at The Little Gym!
This past week was Little Gym Show Week for our two little gymnasts,
Jaden and Sienna! Scott, his mom and I all enjoyed seeing our girls
show off their skills from the past year, and I was sure to take a
gazillion photos for the rest of our family members who weren't able to
come to town for the shows.
Jaden's show was first. She performed individual routines on the bars, beam and floor. Her floor routine even included music and she surprised her teacher by requesting the plain music and not that one that included prompts for which skills to do in it. With the entire class, Jaden also performed a floor routine that was beautifully choreographed and quite entertaining!
We've enjoyed watching Jaden learn new skills and become stronger at the gym this year, and we were so proud of how well she did all of her routines this week.
During Jaden's show, this not-so-little peanut hung out with Mama in the Moby Wrap. She's super excited that we just enrolled her for her first class at the gym this fall!
At the end of class, the teachers handed out medals to each of the students. The Little Gym is unique in that they don't promote being the best or getting a good "score." Rather, they promote doing one's best and a "practice makes progress" attitude, so everyone gets a medal during show week for their success over the entire year.
We were all shocked though when Jaden received a special additional award after the medals were handed out. She received her very first trophy and it was for being in the gym's "100 club." This means that she has completed 100+ weeks of classes at this gym (she also did 20 weeks at another gym before this one).
Jaden was SO thrilled and SO proud! It was extra special for her to be awarded this trophy when none of us expected it. We knew the gym did special honors like this, but just didn't realize Jaden was up for one!
Before we left after class, one of the teachers interviewed Jaden about her special award. So cute!
Next, it was time to watch Sienna star in her own show. She showed her class warm-up and did bar, beam and floor circuits as her routines. The beam routine was even performed with a partner for her age level which was super cute!
Sienna. like Jaden, did an amazing job and we were very proud of all of the new skills she showed off during her show. She's come a LONG way from the little 18-month-old who hung on the rings as much as she possibly could three years ago to the 4 1/2-year-old who feels comfortable on the high beam alone and who rocks her super girl as she travels down a bar, all the while with a big grin from ear to ear!
Lil sis was out and about during Sienna's show and spent some time rolling around on the mats during the award ceremony. She's going to have so much fun when she starts her own class!
Sienna actually started at this gym half a semester before her big sister, so since Jaden received her "100 Club" award, we were pretty sure Sienna would receive hers as well. Sienna, however, had no clue she would receive a trophy of her own. Scott captured on tape Sienna asking what she has to do to earn a trophy like Jaden and how Jaden got "that" only seconds before her teachers started announcing that Sienna had earned the award herself. It was priceless to see how shocked and excited she was that she got her very own trophy!
Here's Sienna doing her own interview about the award she received before we left that day:
We loved every minute of both of our girls' shows and are awed by how far they've come just this year. We are so grateful for The Little Gym program and for the positive influence it has on our children. We're already looking forward to next year!
