NYC Picture Overload
So I mentioned that we went to New York City. And I mentioned that there would be more pictures. Well there are a ton more in the video below!
On Friday morning we got to the airport before 6 AM, got through security and got on our flight before 7 AM and then got to NYC by 8 AM!
We dropped off our bags at the hotel and then went straight to Rockefeller Center. We explored St. Patrick's Cathedral, Lego store, Saks fifth Avenue, and The Top of the Rock. The view was incredible!
We had a late Mexican lunch in West Village that was different and so good. Then we took a cab up to the Met. There, we looked at artistic furniture from Europe before the ventured out into Central Park. Our meals were a little off, so we took a cab to have dessert. Then we decided we were still hungry, so we ordered the best New York pizza that our hotel could recommend to our room. It was delicious!
Saturday morning we began the day with a boat ride all the way around Manhattan. It was so neat to see everything including the Statue of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, the mayor's house, Yankee stadium and so much more! This goofy little German lady took Kim's seat when she had gone outside and refused to get up. It's comical now but at the time it was really irritating!
Next we had lunch at a fantastic restaurant in Chinatown before we tried to take the subway to the 9/11 memorial and absolutely had the worst time! We had purchased a pass with money on it for the entire weekend but after this experience we decided it would be better for us to forgo the pass and just take cabs. We explored the memorial once we got there over an hour later and then explored Wall Street where we had dinner before we went into the 9/11 museum. It was absolutely amazing. Solemn, but amazing. I could've stayed there all day long, but it closed after several hours and we had to get going. Our last stop that evening was the top of the Empire State building where we saw more amazing views, this time at night.
Sunday morning we were on our way to Times Square when we saw Fox news filming on their outdoor patio. We stopped by and found out later that we had been on the news! We stopped at the M&M store and then at the local grocery store before boarding a bus for a tour of the city. It was a movie and television tour, so places that had been in each were highlighted. It was so neat to see the city from a bus. It took us to many places we would not have gotten to go otherwise such as Soho where we got some amazing cupcakes from the famous Georgetown Cupcake. We also got to see the Ghostbusters firehouse, Taylor Swift's apartment, the friends apartment building and much more. We had lunch right after at the place that inspired the TV show How I Met Your Mother and then we ended that day at The American History Museum. Before boarding our flight home I grabbed some dinner to go in a New York café and then Darla and I rode a pedi-cab to grab our luggage.
It was such a full, memorable trip! About 18,000 step each day is no joke :)
